Sign conventions

GeoPrior uses both depth-like and head-like quantities. Be careful with direction conventions when reading formulas, examples, and exported tensors.

  • groundwater depth: positive downward

  • cumulative subsidence: vertical settlement quantity used throughout the forecasting workflow
